Coach Clay Banks covers three things to consider before moving to Los Angeles in his latest video. “I get it, it’s an exciting place to be,” he says, “but there are three things that we feel are at the top of the list to think about first.”
- Money. “You’ve got to have money put away before you come out here.” It’s expensive to live in Los Angeles. “You’re going to want at least three grand before you head out here.” It’s important to have a plan, and you should be prepared to not have work for a few months, just in case.
- Where are you going to live? “It’s a big place, and it’s very compartmentalized. Do some research. Do your work.” Check out the types of areas, ask around, get online…what do you like and also where can you afford to live? “Don’t do anything more than a year lease up front. You may want to move once you learn the areas.”
- Do you have a social center? A social center could be an acting studio, a church, a sports group, or some sort of hobby. Find something with a “hub, or center that you can work out of, because then you get in, you start networking, start meeting people, and as you get in you find out more and more about LA. Preparation is HUGE when moving to Los Angeles.”
