This action, adventure thriller was a bit confusing at the start. The scenes jump from one location to another without any explanation. Not until you are well into the film do you begin to understand what is going on.
The movie begins as we view Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) underwater in a river in Alaska. He brings up a sealed tube. We later learn it contained his meds, a green and blue pill, which he must take to continue his incredible muscle and mind power. Without his pills, quick thinking Cross would revert back to his normal self. He warms up by a fire, then continues his trek across a mountain range.
Aaron Cross is a super agent of “The Program”; a secret U.S. intelligence project. It’s purpose is to produce men with incredible physical and mental ability. The mastermind of “The Program” is Colonel Byer (Edward Norton) and assisted by Stacy Keach. Aaron Cross, known only as #5, is one of six experimental men, sanctioned by the Dept. of Defence, in an operation called “Outcome”. The room of the command center for “The Program” is full of computers and surveillance cameras
observe anywhere in the world. Col. Byer and his men, have decided to terminate “The Program” . To remove any evidence that “Outcome” ever existed, the six agents must be eliminated by giving them a yellow pill, causing them to bleed from the nostril and die.
Cross runs out of pills and, needing help, contacts a scientist, Dr. Marta Shearing (Rachel Weisz), who knows all about the pills because she helped create them. They take off for Manila where the pills are manufactured. Soon they are running for their lives, trying to stay one step ahead of the men of “The Program” who want to kill them.
My feeling is that the chase scenes on the motorcycle lasted too long. Also I need to add, Matt Damon’s character, ‘Jason Bourne’ is often mentioned, which leads me to believe there will be a sequel.
