In Coach Banks’ latest Youtube Video, he covers the Dos and Don’ts for etiquette at a casting office. Of course, every casting is going to be different, so there are no hard “rules” that don’ts have exceptions. This means all you can do is be on the ready, and aware of your surroundings. Here are dos and don’ts on some of the most common questions Coach gets about the audition room.
DON’T – Approach the Casting Director and shake their hand. Let them make that decision. If they initiate it, it’s okay, otherwise, don’t assume they want to touch you.
DO – Make an informed choice about whether to sit or stand. Standing does tend the be stronger, but your ultimate goal is to suspend their disbelief, so if you’re supposed to be driving a car, that just won’t work. Take the time to think about your environment. Where does the scene take place?
DO – Work with environment of the room. Own the space, exude the confidence, and bring the scene.
