As with headshots, far too often, actors in a rush to get things going, will hastily jump into action, proclaiming, “I need a reel!” They then ask around for a ‘demo shooter,’ compare some prices and schedule a shoot. The date arrives and they head into the shoot with some sort of vague idea of what they want (or should have) – or, they have no idea at all, expecting the shooter to make it all happen for them.
It’s great to be proactive about your career, however, being unprepared for shoots are one of the biggest mistakes that actors make. They go into their shoot unprepared and wind up with anything but the best reel possible. NOT SMART! It’s foolish, time-consuming and expensive.
